The Met Office has declared a Level 3 alert in relation to the current heatwave. Heatwaves can be dangerous, especially for the very young or very old or those with chronic disease.

Along with the Met Office and Public Health England, Medway Clinical Commissioning Group is advising people to stay out of the sun and keep your home as cool as possible. Drawing blinds or curtains and keeping windows shut during the day can help. You should also drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, such as water or squash, and wear loose, cool clothing.

If you know someone who might be at risk, for example an older person living on their own, make sure they know what to do.

Advice on how to reduce the risk of a heatwave can be obtained from NHS Choices at https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/heatwave-how-to-cope-in-hot-weather/. You can also call NHS 111 or visit your local chemist.
