Community groups are being invited to apply for cash to support their work.

Involving Medway, an initiative set up by Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), is inviting groups to apply for up to £1,500 of funding to pay for activities that will encourage people to lead more active, involved lives.

Stuart Jeffery, Chief Operating Officer at Medway CCG, said: “We established Involving Medway as a way of trying something different to create a healthier local community. By encouraging people to get involved we are battling social isolation and its associated health problems, so community groups and activities really do help take some of the pressure off our services.”

The grants are available to Medway community groups that encourage the growth of inclusion and initiative, especially if they are run by local residents. The deadline for applications is Friday, 31 August, with funding allocations made in the autumn.

Previous beneficiaries have included groups focused on mental health and wellbeing; eating disorders; confidence-building; activities for young people; stress management and more, and these have been delivered through a range of advice-offering workshops or drop-in sessions, as well as craft-making, music and dance activities.
