Commenting on the news that Lesley Dwyer, Chief Executive of Medway NHS Foundation Trust, has resigned to take up the role of Chief Executive of the Central Adelaide Local Health Network, Dr Peter Green, Clinical Chair at Medway Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We would like to thank Lesley for her time at Medway Maritime hospital and wish her the very best for the future. She has made a significant contribution to the trust’s turnaround which led to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) removing it from ‘special measures’ last year.

“Lesley led the senior leadership team with the CQC noting the creation of a more engaged workforce and a higher level of morale. The trust is now rated as ‘good’ for being ‘caring’, ‘effective’ and ‘well-led’ – something that Lesley was instrumental in implementing.

“Our priority is always the health and wellbeing of Medway residents and patient care – a goal we share with Lesley and the strong leadership team that is now in place at the hospital.

“We look forward to working with James Devine – currently Deputy Chief Executive – on an interim Chief Executive basis from November, to continue the good work Lesley has begun.”
